No.73136 shunting at Sheffield Park - 15 January 2009 - John Sandys

A chance to ride on the Bluebell Railway's first diesel hauled passenger train, from Sheffield Park to Kingscote and return.

All ticket sales from this train went directly towards the cost of removing the rubbish tip between Kingscote and East Grinstead.

The train was hauled by visiting Class 73 number 73136 'Perseverance' then on hire to the railway to haul the spoil trains between Imberhorne Lane and Horsted Keynes.

The train departed from Sheffield Park station at 12.30pm, and tickets also allowed unlimited travel on all Bluebell Railway steam train services that day.

In a recreation of one of the GN saloon's last journeys on the main line (in October 1971 - attached to a Clapham Junction to Woking Yard parcels train behind an EDL), E6043 'Perseverance' took the saloon for two trips to Kingscote in the early evening of 28 March for members of the Howlden Trust (one of whom is also a part-owner of E6043) and their guests.
