Further work on the firebox - more stay holes drilled and tapped.
The new ashpan has been trial fitted to the boiler and in the frames.
New castings have been made for the steampipe manifolds.
New steam fountain under construction.
Repaired superheater header.
Repaired smokebox door with fittings installed.
Work continues on the boiler overhaul. The majority of the welding and rivetting is now complete, and work is progressing on the new stays.
This picture,
with the boiler still standing upside-down,
shows the backhead with the new central section welded in place,
and rivetting completed around the foundation ring and the firehole ring.
The row bright parts lower down in the picture are new bushes in the stay holes.

i.e. the throatplate.
The left side of the picture is the left side of the firebox,
where the foundation rivet heads are flattened for the limited clearance against the main frame.
On the outside of the corner are two patch screws,
necessary because there is no room inside for rivets;
one still has its spanner head not yet snapped off.
