830

This engine, of the same class as 847, belonged to the Maunsell Locomotive Society, who rescued it from Barry scrapyard without a tender.  A very long-term restoration project, it was sold to one of the locomotive societies on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.  They own the remains of two others of this class and have successfully created a working example from the various pieces!  The sale of the engine coincided with the purchase of Stowe, thus helping the Society finances at a crucial time.

830 at Sheffield Park, 7th August 1999.
