Geoff Harris of the Bluebell Railway's S&T Department was judged by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers, Minor Railways Section to be considered as the S&T Volunteer of the Year. The award is to support and encourage S&T volunteer members of minor and heritage railways in all aspects of signalling and telecommunications. The Award is granted every two years at the Section's Biannual Technical Seminar, this year held at the Severn Valley Railway.This year's award consisted of a cheque, presentation of the Charles Hudson Trophy, free attendance at a forthcoming Technical Workshop, a certificate, personal trophy, an IRSE personal Log Book and free membership of the IRSE for one year.
Geoff was describe as "A respected team member who passes on knowledge to other volunteers and travels a long distance to carry out his duties. The results of his endeavours are reported to work well in service".
