Weddings and Wedding Receptions
The Bluebell Railway is pleased to have been a winner of the
UK Wedding Magazines BA Award for
Top Wedding Service Venue in Sussex.
The magazine said "... the Bluebell Railway has built up an impressive reputation as an unusual wedding venue with a team of dedicated staff providing peerless quality and service."
We were delighted to have received this award back in 2004, but the service we offer has actually moved forward since then, offering more options and even better facilities!
The Wedding ceremony can be conducted in a choice of two locations on the railway, with the option of the reception on board our prestigious Golden Arrow Pullman train hauled by a vintage steam locomotive.
The railway is licenced for civil marriage ceremonies
at Sheffield Park and at Horsted Keynes
At Sheffield Park, the ceremony takes place in the Birch Grove suite of our restaurant complex. The four photos at the top of this page were taken during a wedding at Sheffield Park.
At Horsted Keynes, the venue is the 1930s' waiting room at Horsted Keynes station, the location for many TV and film productions. This more intimate venue (photos, left and right) has a maximum capacity of 40 people.
Receptions
Wedding receptions may also be held on the railway, in the Birch Grove Suite, or on board one of our trains:
* "Wedding Belle" Golden Arrow Pullman train (photo left): Max numbers: 100.
* The Great Northern Railway Directors' Saloon may occasionally be available for hire: Max numbers: 20.
Larger numbers can be accommodated using additional non-pullman carriages.
