The extent of wear on the valve liners is such that new liners are required. The old liners should be extracted by pulling them out, but having been in place for at least 35 years they would not move. They were removed by using an arc-welding rod to gouge out the metal along the liner's axis, allowing it to shrink and release from the main casting. This picture shows the liners after removal. |
