Baxter suffered a minor mechanical problem in the Autumn at the end of a days's work on the Vintage goods train. The driver reported it making a "chinking" sound from the front end, and a change in its exhaust beat. Investigation revealed that one of the valves had become loose on the spindle as a result of the locking bolt having fallen out of the front lock-nut. |
