Bulleid's SEmG Photos 3 - Emergency at HK
with apologies to Brother Lawrence

A surprise at Horsted Keynes was the appearance of this traction engine.
We later managed to talk the driver out of flattening the fine signal.

It is always good to have someone to blame, and this is the man! David
Lawrence is guilty of having formed the SEmG and guided it over the past
years to become the most popular railway group on the Internet.
The Southern Railway "sunshine" lettering as well as the flexible roof between cab and tender is seen to good effect.
David Lawrence is seen here after fulfilling a lifetime's amibition and
cabbed a Q1. But he is looking particularly pleased because - as yet
unknown to the crew - he has rewarded them with a "silent but deadly".
Mind you, looking at the fireman in the window, it's possible that it
has just reached him. What will happen when those explosive gasses reach
the Q1's firebox doesn't bear thinking about...

...luckily the firmean was able to get a warning out before collapsing,
and Horsted Keynes was quickly evacuated. The extensive layout is seen
here from the rapidly-departing GNR Director's Saloon.
