The Bluebell Railway's 2008

BRANCH LINE WEEKEND


No.65 with the mixed train - 24 Feb 07 - Matt Allen

 

Sat 23rd & Sun 24th February

 

The weekend will feature an intensive and varied timetable of Branch Line Trains, including mixed trains - photo right shows No.65 with a mixed train at the 2007 event (Matt Allen).

 

Six medium-sized locomotives (see below) will be used including the visiting GWR Auto-tank locomotive No.1450, complete with GWR auto-trailer - the classic branch-line combination.

The locomotive line-up:

1450 Fenchurch GWR Dukedog 4MT tank 80151 SER 65 Birch Grove

  • 1450 - GWR 14XX 0-4-2T, originally numbered No.4850, built 1935 at Swindon
  • 672 "Fenchurch" - LBSCR A1 'Terrier', built in 1872 at Brighton
  • 9017 "Earl of Berkeley" - GWR 'Dukedog' 32xx 4-4-0, rebuilt at Swindon in 1938 from two locos, which were themselves built in 1899 and 1906
  • 80151 - BR 'Class 4' 2-6-4T, built in 1957 at Brighton
  • 65 - SECR O1-class 0-6-0, built in 1896; rebuilt 1908
  • 32473 - LBSCR E4 0-6-2T "Birch Grove" (in BR Livery) built in 1898 at Brighton

  • Auto train working with GWR 1450 and matching carriage No.178. Because of the low seating capacity, it will be possible to reserve seats on Auto Train workings in advance. A £2.00 supplement will apply to the Auto Train service.
  • Mixed train in operation
  • Vintage LCDR and LBSCR 4-wheelers, Metropolitan Railway carriages, Observation Car, our two newly overhauled crimson lake and cream Mk.I carriages, etc.
  • Carriage Works tours - 1pm, 1.20pm and 1.40pm each day
  • LSWR carriage 1520 restoration project available for inspection of latest progress
  • Trade stands

Working Timetable and Event Guide

Available in advance or on the day, priced at £3.

First and last trains:

Both days: First trains - 9.50 am from SP, 10.07 and 10.10 from HK, 11am from Kc
Last round trip from SP: 4.40 pm (arrives back at 6.10 pm)
