News of the repair of locomotive No 80151

28 September 2001

80151 is scheduled to run in the Giants of Steam (2) event on 27 and 28 October.

80151 being painted on 23 September.

A handy feature of the design of BR Standard tank engines the way the boiler is secured at the front and back only, allowing the tanks to remain in position which saves the time taken to reassemble the locomotive after the boiler is installed, seen here on 1 July 2001.
