News of Blackmore Vale's Repair

View of tender frames The tank assembly has been removed from the tender frames, and the wheels have been removed.

View of axle journal The wheels are being sent away for attention to the tyre profile and axle journals. This particular journal has worn tapered.

View of tank corner The tank has suffered corrosion of the platewwork and fractured cross-stays, such that making a complete new tank assembly is being considered. This hole is in the back left corner, where it appears to have had accident damage repaired in the past.

View of rear bufferbeam A new section of rear bufferbeam being installed.

View of steampipe repair The main steam pipes have been checked with an ultrasonic thickness detector. Here one of them is being repaired by welding in preformed elbow sections.
