- Bulleid Pacific 21C123 'Blackmoor Vale', leading the GNR Directors' Saloon and the corridor set, breasts the summit at West Hoathly in the southbound direction.
- LBSCR E4 No.32473 (formerly 'Birch Grove') had charge of the four-coach Metropolitan Railway set, seen here leaving Sheffield Park.
- SR U-class 1638 at West Hoathly with the lunchtime Golden Arrow Pullman dining train (three 1920s Pullmans - Fingall, Christine and Lilian - plus the NRM's 'Eagle' of 1960, with the LMS BGZ as brake).
